Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Social Meta Generator at social-meta.snapstatic.io ("the Service") handles your data. The Service is operated by SnapStatic.

1. Data We Collect

Editing tags happens entirely in your browser. The title, description, image URL, site name, and other values you type are processed locally on your device and are never stored by our servers.

"Fetch from URL" (optional). If you choose to fetch the existing tags from a web page, the URL you enter is sent over HTTPS to our server (a Cloudflare Function), which loads that page, extracts its meta tags, and returns them to your browser. The URL is used only to perform that fetch — it is processed transiently and is not stored or logged. To prevent abuse, your IP address may be used briefly for rate-limiting and an anti-abuse check; it is not retained. Fetched responses may be cached at the edge for a short time. If you never use the Fetch button, nothing you enter leaves your browser.

Infrastructure and analytics:

• Cloudflare — provides hosting, edge delivery, and the Fetch Function for this Service. Cloudflare may set a functional or security cookie and collects standard edge analytics (page views, country, browser type). This data is aggregated and not personally identifiable. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy for details.
• Umami analytics — we use a self-hosted instance of Umami to collect anonymous, aggregate usage data (page views, country, browser type). Umami sets no cookies, performs no cross-site tracking, and does not identify you personally.

Data we do NOT collect:

• No accounts, email addresses, or names
• No payment information (this Service is entirely free)
• No storage of your content — the tags you type stay in your browser; the only thing sent to our server is a URL you explicitly choose to fetch
• No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies
• No third-party analytics scripts (no Google Analytics, no tracking pixels)

2. Local Storage

The Service stores the following in your browser's localStorage:

• ss_upsell_dismissed — remembers that you dismissed the "try SnapStatic" prompt so it is not shown again.

No tracking cookies are set by the Service itself. You can clear localStorage at any time through your browser settings.

3. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

• Access — request what data we hold about you
• Deletion — request deletion of any data associated with you
• Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
• Portability — request your data in a portable format
• Object — object to data processing
• Complaint — lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

4. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has used the Service in a way that concerns you, contact us.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy by posting the revised version on this page with an updated date. Material changes will be noted at the top of the page.
